MV Dolphin Queen has 3 decks, her main deck has 6 cabins: 2 Double Cabins, 1 Twin Bunk Bed Cabin, and 3 Quad Share Cabins. The quad cabins are fitted with curtains for each bunk bed for privacy. All cabins are air conditioned and also have a sea view window that opens. On the upper deck are two more Double Sea View Cabins. The door on these cabins opens directly to a view of the islands and ocean. All cabins have 220v sockets.
At the stern of the upper deck is the snack / dining area. Here you can help yourself to coffee, tea, toast, water, electrolyte drinks and fresh fruit. Snacks are always available (toast, fruit). 3 large dining tables and a fourth one for cameras and other equipment offers plenty of room at meal times. This is a good relaxation area also to read a book or look at marine I.D. books to identify your sightings with your dive guide. A TV and DVD player also allows any so any videos you film on the trip to be viewed, or you can relax and watch a movie. A stereo has a CD player and MP3 input so you can also play your own music.
The Sundeck is large so plenty of room here for getting your tan. There are also hammocks & deck-chairs available under the partially shaded area at the stern. This is an excellent place for spotting large marine life like Whalesharks and Dolphins. It is also a great place for Traditional Thai Massages which are available on request.
The Dive Platform is at the stern of the main deck and is spacious. It has 3 spacious toilets with showers as well as 2 external showers. 40 Luxfer 12 ltr Tanks are stored here with DIN adapters available if required. The boat crew, will assist you gearing up and also help you on your dive entry and exit. Filling the tanks is also the crews responsibility so all you do is dive . . .
Schedule You begin your trip with an equipment check at the dive centre at around 3:00pm followed by dinner and a 6:30pm departure. The boat cruises overnight to the Similans and you awake in papadise for your first dive. . .
The daily schedule aboard the Dolphin Queen is as follows: Wake up call at 6am. You receive a light breakfast, fresh coffee & some toast and fresh fruits. At this point you can order what you want for breakfast after your dive - anything from: boiled eggs, fried eggs, omelet, pancakes, French toast, sausages and ham. There is also German brown bread, muesli, corn flakes, oats, and lots of fresh fruits always on the table. Electrolyte drinks are also free for you to drink at any time during the safari to help prevent dehydration.
Before every dive there is a safety and dive briefing. All dives are planned as Multi level and each diver must dive with a buddy. All of the dive guides have dive computers and are experienced with all the dive sites so if you have any special macro marine life requests such as Nudibranchs, Sea Horses etc they can usually find them for you. The guides also speak all major European languages.
The 1st dive is at 7am. Dive time is 55 min followed by a 5 min safety stop. On the majority of dives you will be picked up by the Dolphin Queen or the inflatable tender. This makes for easy, stress free diving. There is a limit of 4 divers to 1 dive guide. There is a 3hr surface interval for exploring beaches, reading, relaxing on the sundeck or in your cabin as you wish.
The 2nd dive is at 11am followed by lunch. The afternoon until 3pm can be spent visiting the islands or just relaxing on board the boat.
At 3pm is your 3rd dive. Fruit, Snacks & drinks are available upon surfacing. You can go Snorkeling, Swimming, or visit the beach before dinner at about 6pm.
At 7pm there is a night or dusk dive.
The trip begins with 2 days diving the Similans before moving to Koh Bon, Tachai, Richelieu Rock & the Surin Islands. A very popular excellent value trip.
